Multi Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Technology (M-CAIT)

Finally, it was my turn to attend my first conference,
Semantic Technology and Information Retrieval (STAIR'11),
organized by UKM, located at Pullman Putrajaya,
a place that I barely know...

Finding hotels definitely a challenge to me,
i had considered a lot of places,
and finally, i saw the promotion from www.agoda.com,
i discovered Sepang Hotel, at Putrajaya.

It had been a long day for me,
from the KIA to LCCT,
then taking KLIA transits to Putrajaya&Cyberjaya station,
and then took a taxi to the hotel.

Putrajaya is definitely a very quite city,
the hotel is located at Cyber City Commercial Center, Dengkil,
but the taxi drivers did not know where the hell it is...
but when i mentioned the hotel's name, then got the response,
"oh oh..."

The hotel is clean, and, blank to me,
haha, even though the outlook of the building was painted in white and red,
kind of eyes catching actually.
I booked the standard room as no more single room left,
RM 89 per night, expensive, but what to do?

Today was the first day of the conference,
and the registration time started from 730-845am,
and that's the reason why i chose to stay at Putrajaya,
it nears to the Pullman hotel.

When i arrived at Pullman hotel,
and went to the registration hall, and i was shock,
because i saw there were three different registration tables,
which means, three conferences were organized within the same period.
Firstly i tot the conferences were organized by different universities,
but it turned out i was wrong,
these conferences were all organized by UKM.
Then i tot it was organized by different faculties,
but it turned out, i was wrong once again.
These conferences were organized by the Center of Artificial Intelligence (CAIT) of UKM.
And the title of the conference was named as,
Multi Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Technology (M-CAIT'11),
and this was the first year, this joint conferences.

The International Conference on Pattern Analysis and Intelligent Robotic (ICPAIR 2011),
The 3rd Conference on Data Mining and Optimization (DMO11)
The 1st International Conference on Semantic Technology and Information Retrieval (STAIR2011).

and i was attending for the STAIR'11.
I tot i was the only one from UNIMAS,
but when i was reading the schedule book,
i saw one familiar name, but i couldnt able to recall who that was,
and i ignored that.
After few min, before the keynotes presentation started,
i saw a familiar face, but yet, i wasnt able to realize who that was immediately,
but i recognized immediately the second person at the back,
and she also recognized me,
Pn Fatithah, then i realized why the name sounded so familiar to me,
she was Dr Kartinah Zen, i was so 囧 at the moment...
i talked to Pn Fatihah for a bit,
and  that's it all, haha.
I lost the sight on them after the keynotes section.

Initially there was only one keynote presentation scheduled,
but changes happened, like always,
they arranged another keynote presentation and made it into two presentations.
and that out-schedule presentation definitely caused the delayed on the time,
and the parallel presentation sections.

Luckily my section was arranged in the afternoon, so it did not effect much,
but the afternoon sections were brought one hour ahead,
due to the next keynote presenter postponed his arrival.

I met one part time phd student, who also a lecturer,
i dono what's the name of the university,
and he did tell me, but i have no idea where it is, and what is the full name of the uni,
haha.
He told me he was a bit disappointed,
since it is an international conference,
it should be sorry to say, more professional that it appeared to, that's my thought,
especially when i attended to the parallel sections,
only one handful of people appeared in the section,
excluded the chairperson and the presenter,
the audiences included the next presenters,
but yet only one handful of people showed up.
But of course, one part of me was happy to see that, haha.
However, there were seven keynote speakers invited across the globe,
that's impressive.

My presentation, was a disaster,
haiz...
i was still failed to express the concepts,
even i did so many practicing the night before,
i was so ashamed, when i was answering the questions,
their facial expression told me they dont get me,
i was so frustrated at the moment.
isk!!!!

Anyway, it ended, and tomorrow is the last day of the M-CAIT'2011,
I will just show myself around, and spending my time listening to other works.
It would be a very unforgettable experience,
especially the money i spent on the transport, the taxi fees are damn expensive!!!!
and i have to spend another night at KL,
god bless me that i could find a place to crush in tomorrow night!!!

Final add up, finally i have at least one paper published!yeah!!!

and this is the first time i ever travel by my own,
and stay in the hotel alone,
it is a very great experience actually,
and expensive one!

What the h**l??!!! RM 1.8 for Tourism Pages?

6 Facebook pages costed Malaysia RM 1,758,432.
I wonder what others  will think of Malaysia government after knowing the story.
Seriously? Roughly RM1.8 million spent just to get 6 Facebook pages?
I wonder how many millionaires had been born to this world if it really costed that much!!

Well, we do believe that we need someone to create the pages, setting up the contents,
to update and to maintance the pages from time to time,
and it does cost a dozen of dollars,
but do we need to spend RM1.8 million?
We are not foolish or naive, whatever you want to call.

Government starts argueing that our country is now facing some financial issues,
therefore subsidise fuel been withdraw.
Just two days ago, a bunch of fishermen stopped their activities for three days to protest the subsidise of diesel been withdrawed.
And surprisingly, we are now know where the h**l the money was spent!
6 Facebook pages costed RM1.8 million,
and who know how much else had been spent in some 'awesome' ideas over the years.

Funny thing is, our government never tired of announcing how much they had been spent in the ideas that they think they are actually helping this country evolving to become one of the modern country,
and expecting everyone saying, 'wow, RM1.8 million eh, that's must be awesome!!!' ,
instead, I guess every Malaysian might reponse in a way that more or less the same,
'!&@*#, RM1.8million??!!!'
I don't know...

Here, quoted one of the most amused quote these days,
我接受唔到咯。。。

Anyway, let's pray that RM1.8 million did spend for something worthy,
since the pages were up and money already paid,
and the objectives met, provide the best services for all the tourists that wanted to visit to Malaysia,
and the pages do not die too soon!!!

Let it be worthy! Tourism Ministry!

GOD BLESS MALAYSIAN
